Dr. Susan Truong and her family immigrated to Florida in the mid 1970s from Vietnam, penniless and without speaking English. She learned that these were just obstacles and not excuses. Her parents impressed upon her and her four younger brothers that an education is the key out of poverty. Wanting a better life, she was willing to do what it takes to achieve the American dream. After receiving her Bachelors of Science from the University of South Florida, she spent six years in medical research. Because she always knew that she was not going to stop until she has obtained her doctorate, she returned to school and earned her Doctor of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University.

Today, she is in her second decade as a highly successful optometrist with multiple practices and featured in magazines and news articles. As entrepreneurs, she and her husband are also real estate investors and own a thriving artsy bar in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. That is all exciting except for one thing. What Dr. Susan Truong did not realize is that striving for success had a major BLINDSPOT. She realized that the workaholic in her had been neglecting those most important to her, her family. This became more of a realization when she lost one of her brothers to cancer only nine days after his diagnosis. He was 42 years old.

With this new insight, now as a Beyond 20/20 Vision Strategist, she has dedicated her life to helping others SEE BEYOND 20/20, so that not only do they better live into their vision, but are more equipped to transform that vision into reality. She is a brilliant and loving speaker/coach who will help you to navigate life’s toughest challenges and assist you in building and living your greatest story ever. Today, her devotion is based on her core values of COMMITMENT, BELIEF, and TRIUMPH.

How and why did I decide to name my coaching business “Beyond 20/20 Vision”? First of all, it has nothing to do with the year 2020. It was just coincidental because the year 2020 will go down in history indeed because of the Coronavirus pandemic. On December 2019, I proudly announced that 2020 was going to be my year, our year, for me, for us eye doctors. We always strive to get our patients to achieve 20/20 vision. We’re all about seeing 20/20 in 2020. Well, who was to know that the year 2020 would turn out the way it did! It threw the world for a loop! Such an irony!
In my industry, the eye care industry, 20/20 vision defines “perfect vision”. But does “perfect” truly stop there? Who set that standard anyway? We, the eye doctors? In reality, the typical eye chart does not stop at 20/20. There’s actually better than 20/20 vision!
We refer to it as 20/15 or 20/10. But us eye doctors have been trained and programmed that if we can get our patients to see 20/20, then it’s good enough. That there’s no need to push them any further than 20/20. Therefore, we, the eye doctors, have made the decision for our patients that 20/20 is the ultimate goal.
That may be all good and dandy when I’m caring for my patients, but not when I’m coaching you. Perfect in life is way “Beyond 20/20 Vision”! Who sets the standard in your life? Your parents? Your past? Your boss? Your work? Your children? Your vices in life? Your bills? The resounding answer should be YOU! Make the decision to be the CEO of your life today! Get in that driver seat, grab the steering wheel, take control and direct your own destiny! Tell yourself that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
That is how and why “Beyond 20/20 Vision” came to be. Since I started my career as an eye doctor back in 2000 and after caring for nearly 100,000 patients, there’s one common denominator, too many people are just merely existing. They’re going through life on autopilot. Life is too short! Don’t settle for just 20/20 vision! Choose to truly live! Strive and have a burning desire to live “Beyond 20/20 Vision”! Set the standard for your own life. Don’t settle for a life of mediocrity!
Remember: SIGHT is a FUNCTION of your EYES. VISION is a FUNCTION of your HEART! Live true to yourself! Live from your heart!

The Birth of our logo
Unique and precious as intuition, beautiful like a gem, the Third Eye chakra is here represented as a vertical eye in the sublime indigo shade of the deep universe, protected and in elevation on a symbolic open-hands figure.
The Third Eye, the sixth chakra, is located on the forehead between the eyes. It is related to our ability to focus on and see the big picture. The color of this chakra is indigo, thus, the color scheme for our logo and web page.
The Third Eye is regarded as the “eye of consciousness”, representing the vantage point from which enlightenment beyond one’s physical sight is achieved.
What can affect our sixth chakra, the Third Eye? Intuition, wisdom, ability to think, make decisions, lack of insight, and feeling lost.
Since the color for the Third Eye is indigo, some foods that are considered healing foods for this chakra are purple colored fruits like grapes and blueberries, chocolate, lavender flavored spices or tea, and lavender essential oil, to name a few.
